Mor Talla Ndiaye breaks silence after joining Liverpool

The Senegalese defender became Liverpool’s first signing of 2026.

The 18-year-old has signed from Amitie FC in Senegal.

The initial plan is for him to link up with Rob Page’s U21’s, with a clear intention of progressing him into the first team set up when the time is right.

The deal is said to be in the region of £1million and the player has signed a four-and-a-half-year professional contract with Liverpool FC.

Liverpool have been keeping tabs on him since he impressed in the most recent U17 World Cup in Qatar, where he made four appearances, helping his country reach the knockout stages.

Ndiaye is a much-needed recruitment, with Arne Slot having to include Wellity Lucky on many occasions in his matchday squads recently due to a lack of senior options.

Upon signing for the club, Ndiaye admitted that Sadio Mane was a key component to convincing him to move to Liverpool.

Via an Instagram post, he said:

“I am very happy to join Liverpool FC for my first experience abroad. It is a dream club, with a magnificent history and a rich record of success, shaped by great players, including Sadio Mane, who made me dream in this shirt.”

“I would like to thank my former coaches, as well as the staff at Bou Sports and Amitie FC, my close circle, along with my president Demba Ba and my agents for their support.”

“I cannot forget anyone. The work is only just beginning for all of us. Together, we will succeed by the grace of God!”

The young Senegalese will have some career with the Reds if he even comes close to Sadio Mane’s success at the club, a player who became a modern legend under Jurgen Klopp.
