Man Utd news: Kobbie Mainoo makes transfer U-turn on exit as agent speaks out

Manchester United have had a chaotic 24 hours, announcing the sacking of Ruben Amorim.

The Portuguese boss was given his marching orders on Monday morning, following a 1-1 draw with Leeds over the weekend and his post-match remarks. This decision marks the end of Amorim's 14-month tenure at the helm of the club. Under his leadership, United struggled to find their rhythm and currently sit in sixth place in the Premier League standings. Behind the scenes, United's top chiefs are likely working tirelessly to secure a replacement, with Darren Fletcher temporarily taking the reins.

He is set to lead the team for their Premier League clash against Burnley on Wednesday evening. In addition to hunting for a new manager and managing a packed fixture schedule, we're also in the midst of the January transfer window. United have been linked with potential arrivals and departures for some time now, and it's likely that negotiations are still ongoing behind the scenes. Here, Daily Star Sport looks at the latest news from Old Trafford.

Triple transfer twist

All three players found themselves on the periphery under the Portuguese manager and had been tipped for potential departures from the club. Napoli have been heavily linked with a swoop for Mainoo, whilst Roma were reportedly preparing an approach for Zirkzee.

However, those prospective departures could now be shelved following Amorim's exit from the club.

United may prefer to wait and see, with any incoming manager likely wanting to assess his squad thoroughly before sanctioning any transfer activity. The trio might also view this as a chance to resurrect their Old Trafford careers.

Target's representative breaks silence

The representative of United target Yehor Yarmolyuk has addressed his client's future amid speculation linking him with a move to Old Trafford. Last year, reports suggested the Brentford midfielder had been placed on a shortlist of potential signings as the club seeks to bolster their midfield options.

However, speaking to TalkSPORT, Vadim Shablii has suggested the player isn't seeking a January switch. "Right now, Yehor is in the right place, and all his thoughts are focused on becoming an indispensable player and a leader in Brentford's starting XI," he said.

"During this summer transfer window, there was interest in him from clubs in Italy, Germany, and, of course, England - but everything has its time," Shablii continued.

"He is happy to be at Brentford at the moment, but I am certain that there will be even greater interest in him in the future."
