Tom Cleverley Claims Man Utd Teammate Had 'God Given Talent' - Not Rooney or Ronaldo

 Former Manchester United and England midfielder Tom Cleverley named the one Red Devil he believed had a God-given talent, but snubbed both Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo. Cleverley made his debut for United in 2011 and would go on to make 79 appearances for the club, scoring five goals and adding a further seven assists, while also winning a Premier League title.

Cleverley would depart to join Everton on a free transfer in 2015, but failed to emulate his spell at Old Trafford. He also never had the chance to play with the same calibre of players again, and he waxed lyrical about one teammate in particular, whom he claimed was 'on another level.'

Cleverley Named Scholes as Best Man United Teammate

The duo played several times alongside one another

Speaking to talkSPORT, Cleverley stated that Paul Scholes was the greatest player he played alongside at United, describing his skills as 'God-given.' Explaining his reasoning, the Plymouth Argyle manager stated:

"A lot of players there you were like 'wow.' Unbelievable, world-class players. Unbelievable work rate and desire to win more trophies. Scholesy was just God-given talent. No matter how hard you worked, if you worked 24 hours in a day, it was just a different kind of talent. There's not many players I've seen that have got that."

Scholes is widely regarded as one of the greatest midfielders in Premier League history, having developed from a second striker in his early years to one of the absolute best deep-lying playmakers, capable of completely dictating the tempo of a game.

He finished his career (the second time around) with 11 league titles, two Champions Leagues and four FA Cups, making him one of the most decorated players in English football. His one-club career at Old Trafford saw him make 716 appearances, scoring 152 goals and providing a further 82 assists.
