President Prabowo plans scholarships for Palestinian students

President Prabowo Subianto has outlined his government's initiative to provide scholarships to Palestinians to study at the Indonesia Defense University (Universitas Pertahanan).

According to the President, the initiative emphasizes Indonesia's continuous commitment to opening the door for Palestinian students to pursue education in Indonesia, in addition to building health facilities in the West Bank and Gaza.

"We want them to return to their homeland safe, healthy, and educated," he said at the Antalya Diplomacy Forum (ADF) 2025 in Turkey

Besides supporting the construction of facilities in Gaza, Indonesia has also sent a medical team to provide assistance to residents affected by the conflict.

In addition, Indonesia, in collaboration with the United Arab Emirates, has opened a field hospital in Gaza.

In his speech, Prabowo emphasized the importance of the two-state solution as a way out of the conflict and to end casualties.

"I believe, in the end, there must be peaceful cooperation. That is the key to true peace," he said.

He further said that Indonesia will not silently watch the suffering of the people living in Gaza and surrounding areas due to the prolonged conflict.

The archipelagic nation is open and ready to provide assistance by evacuating Palestinian civilians in need of intensive care to hospitals in Indonesia.

"How can a six-year-old child be considered guilty? How can an unarmed mother be bombed, lose her home, lose everything? This is difficult to accept with common sense," Prabowo said.

The Indonesian leader is actively conducting diplomacy with leaders in the Middle East region. At the forum, he announced plans to visit Cairo, Doha, and Amman.

The meeting with leaders from the Middle East region, including Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and King Abdullah II of Jordan, is expected to produce solutions for peace and humanitarian assistance for Palestine.

"This is our way of showing solidarity. Indonesia is far away, but my people feel that the attacks on the people of Gaza, Palestine, Lebanon, and Syria—it is like an attack on themselves," he said.
