Pakistani top cricketers Naseem Shah and Fatima Sana to star in Canada Super 60 T10 League
Dubai: Pakistani pace sensation Naseem Shah and all-rounder Fatima Sana are among the headline players confirmed for the debut season of the Canada Super 60 T10 League, a high-octane tournament featuring 1,300+ cricketers from 34 countries.
Fatima Sana is captain of the Pakistan's women national team and recently helped her country to qualify for the women's world cup.
The event is scheduled to kick off this July in Canada.
The league, backed by former Indian star Yuvraj Singh, has already created a buzz in the cricketing world with a player pool consisting of 1,135 male and 235 female cricketers, promising an exciting blend of international flair and emerging talent.
Eight franchises
Featuring eight franchises, the tournament aims to deliver fast-paced action while providing a global platform for both men's and women's cricket, Geo Tv reported.
Star power
Joining Naseem Shah in the men’s competition are a host of international T20 stalwarts, including: Finn Allen, Sikandar Raza, Alex Hales, Shamar Joseph, Jason Roy, Keshav Maharaj, Tim Seifert, Tim Southee, Jimmy Neesham, Azam Khan, Lungi Ngidi, Rilee Rossouw, Chris Lynn, Jason Holder, Andre Fletcher, Kyle Mayers, Tabraiz Shamsi, Bhanuka Rajapaksa, Martin Guptill, Dawid Malan, and Mehidy Hasan Miraz among others.
Women's divison
The women's division is equally star-studded with global talents such as Maddy Green, Fran Jonas, Rosemary Mair, Eden Carson, Tazmin Brits, Amy Smith, Lauren Winfield-Hill, Jess Jonassen, Shabnim Ismail, Laura Harris, Deandra Dottin, and Lea Tahuhu, alongside Pakistan’s Fatima Sana.
Building a cricketing community
Kyle Coetzer, former Scottish captain and now assistant tournament director, shared his enthusiasm for the league’s potential.
“I’m absolutely thrilled to see some of the biggest names in world cricket signing up for the Canada Super 60,” Coetzer said. “Their involvement will elevate the competition and provide invaluable exposure to Canadian players, fostering a sense of community and excitement among fans locally and globally.”
What's Next?
Tournament organisers have confirmed that player draft dates will be announced soon, with both men's and women's matches set to begin this July.
